General terms and conditions

Enrolment :
  1. A student is enrolled only when he/she has completed an enrolment form and returned it to the school with an initial deposit. This amount will be deducted from the invoice. After receiving your enrolment and payment, it will be confirmed within 24 hours by fax or e-mail and will thus be definitive.
  2. One or two weeks later you will receive your invoice showing what you have paid and what remains to be paid. If you have paid in full, information will be sent to you about your family, studio or residence.
  3. If an amount still remains to be paid, do it straight away and we will send you the relevant information about your accommodation.
  4. The complete package includes a description of the host family or other accommodation and the exact location on a map of the town, an outline of your course, a detailed invoice and a letter containing information and advice about life in France and in Nice.
  5. For minors (under 18 years old) photocopies of insurance and the parental consent form that we send to you are absolutely essential and must accompany the registration form.

If you enrol your child for the teenage summer programme the initial deposit is 635 € (to be checked). If you opt for a studio, a hotel, or a residence, the initial deposit is 450 € plus an additional 500 € (totalling 950 €) to secure the accommodation.
  2. For those renting a studio, an extra deposit of 400 € against damages will be required by the landlord on arrival. For those staying in a residence, the owner requires an extra deposit of 200 € against damages. The course and accommodation, all learning materials, the possibility of borrowing a text book (for beginners and elementary students only), student card (please ask), a map of the town, a student guide and free access to the Internet on our computers or by WiFi connection.
The registration fee of 45 € is payable for all courses.

Does not include :
Excursions and social activities, except for the teenage and senior programmes.

Classes :

  1. Courses start every Monday except for complete beginners who start every other Monday.
  2. Classes take place from Monday to Friday except on Public Holidays. If the duration of the course includes two Public Holidays during the first four weeks, one will be refunded. For courses that last longer than four weeks, Public Holidays are already accounted for in the reduced total cost and so are not refunded. Private lessons will always be made up for.
  3. A group is made up of 3 students minimum and 10 students maximum except for the summer teenage programme where classes have 15 students maximum. If there is no group corresponding to a student’s language level, a programme of 20 lessons will be reduced to 10 one-to-one lessons with the possibility of incorporating other course classes or of giving the student extra work. If a class has only 2 students, then 15 lessons will be given instead of 20. This reduction in hours does not change the quality of our courses and in fact, the student improves just as quickly, if not more quickly, than in normal classes of 10 students.

Accommodation :

Host family accommodation is provided from 4 p.m. on the Sunday until the Saturday morning following the end of the course. Other arrangements are possible if agreed with the family.

Reimbursement :

  1. In the event of cancellation before the start of the course, the amount paid will be refunded less 1 week’s course and accommodation, provided the school receives notice of cancellation two weeks or more before the start of the course.
  2. Once a course has started, tuition fees are not refundable except in extenuating circumstances at the Director’s discretion.
  3. If a student is absent during the course for personal or medical reasons or to sit the D.E.L.F examination, the days are neither transferable nor refunded.

Visas :

  1. If you are a citizen of the European Union, you do not need a visa. To insure yourself against any medical problems during your stay, you should request a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) from your health service.
  2. If you are not a citizen of the European Union and you are staying for less than 3 months, you must apply for a tourist visa at the French Consulate in your country of origin.
  3. If you wish to stay in France for more than 3 months, you must apply for a long-term student visa making you eligible for a residency permit, which is compulsory! We can help you to obtain your residency permit here if necessary.

Insurance :

  1. All students are strongly advised to take out comprehensive medical and personal insurance (illness, accident, hospitalisation, cancellation, etc.) to cover their stay in France, as well as personal liability insurance.
  2. International House Nice cannot be held responsible for accidents caused by students during their stay.
